Diabetes Care Centurion would like to introduce our newest Locum Physicians: Dr. Elschke Benade and Dr. Elaine Strauss. Their exceptional expertise and unwavering commitment to providing top-notch healthcare are certain to make a valuable contribution to our team.
Dr. Elschke Benade
After matriculating in the beautiful town of Tzaneen, I completed my MBChB medical degree at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein in 2016.
We then moved to Gauteng where I completed my practical training in Pretoria, and soon after started my career as a private GP.
I started working at Diabetes Care Centurion in June 2022 and fell in love with the world of diabetes care.
Since then I have completed the ‘CDE Foundation course in Diabetes Management’ and am looking forward to qualifying myself as a Diabetologist in the near future.
I am passionate about healthy living and wish to share some of this with my patients.
When not at work, I’m a proud mom of our two boys, Hiluan and Eckert, with my loving husband, Tiaan, by my side.
Dr. Elaine Strauss
I am a family practitioner that qualified at Stellenbosch University in 1990.
I spent 20 years abroad: in the UK (6 months), The Netherlands, USA, Canada & Tanzania (Arusha 2 years) leading to an intense interest in and fascination with the diversity and universality of our cultures, needs and desires. I have a special interest in psychiatry, endocrinology (diabetes, obesity), healthy lifestyle and lifestyle illness.
I currently work as the GP at Vistaclinic, a 158- bed private psychiatric hospital in Centurion. I also work 2 days a week at Diabetes Care, a specialized diabetes practice, and a group family practice in Centurion.
My approach to medicine and healing is an inclusive bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach as I view each patient as a unique, integrated, holistic being where any illness in one system is inseparable from the whole and thus cannot be treated in isolation.
